It’s been about 10 weeks since my surgery (lumbar laminectomy, spinal decompression, bony fusion) and I have to tell you that I think of you every morning when I get out of bed and my feet hit the floor. I have no back pain. It used to be for the last 3-4 years that I would experience back pain from my first step of the day because of a herniated disk, spinal Stenosis, degenerative disks, etc.
Before I found you, I went to three orthopedic surgeons over the last few years, and they all basically said I should live with the pain, especially since I have scoliosis which complicates everything. I always felt that spinal surgery would be my last resort so I did everything else to avoid surgery. This included epidural shots, acupuncture, physical therapy and medication. Luckily, I have a friend who knew about you and when everything else failed she insisted that I see you. I am glad I did.
My back isn’t perfect because of the scoliosis, but I am not at the stage where I feel I need scoliosis surgery. If I am on my feet too long I know that I need to rest. I am back to walking, bike riding and swimming and am working with my Pilates stick to strengthen my core muscles so that the pain from the scoliosis is manageable.
My thanks to you and your medical and office colleagues for the care you have given me. I truly am feeling better than I have for the last five years.
See you at my next checkup.
